Viktor Engelmann, my first half hour film. Centered around a German butcher who’s house gets broken in to.

This film was a practice flick trying out certain things, writing dialogue and testing myself to make a film longer that 8 minutes. If you’re like me and like the end result share this badboy through all social media sites. I could really use the extra promotion and you could help.

If there is any effect you want explaining, drop it in the comment section or PM me. If there’s enough requests I’ll make tutorials using explanations and making of footage. (I’ve got lots).

This is my latest short film.

Shot around Aberdeen, Scotland this is a dramatic-ish short film about the routine of a man.

This film was thought up in a day and shot in a single afternoon. The edit took me another half day. Quick short and interesting to do.

I wish to thank everyone that was involved in the making of this film.

Raw design step by step.

Before I could make the leader, I had to create a logo.

Step 1. Sketching out some ideas.
PopUP Logo Sketch
Step 2. Turning the design digital.

With that done, the official PopUP logo was created.

Step 3. Inverting and adding.

Step 4. Shading

Step 5. Giving it flair and motion in AE.

And, Voila, everything combined and this is the end result.

A year later, 3voor12 changed their looks. Which meant a new logo and a new PopUP animation for me to design.
The new look was a lot cleaner.

This is the new Leader animation.

And at the end of the episode, a new outro animation.

Courtesy of Still Image Productions.

I was asked by Still Image to help with the video graphics for their ‘So Called Celeste’ rockumentary. In this documentary they follow the band ‘So Called Celeste’ through three countries where they where playing live gigs.

My job was to design and animate ‘Snatch-like’ intro graphics, lower thirds and overal design elements to tie the whole thing together.

Right. The Snatch intro’s.

Still Image wanted the band members to be highlighted individually. “Like the intro to the film Snatch”.
As inspiration I studied and analysed the following video:

Raw Elements Step by Step

Step 1. The raw, to be edited image.

Step 2. Snatch-i-fy it in PhotoShop

Step 3. Name tags in PhotoShop

Step 4. Combine them all in AE and give it some much desired motion.

In total I made six different versions like this. Each one for a different band member.

Other than the intro animations I also designed the lower thirds in this product and the intro animations depicting the three locations where the band toured through.

This one was for when they went to Norway:

(I also made two others like this for Italy and France, both with their own iconic figure at the top).

I hand drew the viking using an iPad.
